In Kogi, an APC ward chairman commits suicide
Bunmi Ipinnaiye, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ponyan Ward, Yagba East Local Government Area, Kogi State, is said to have committed suicide in a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps cell.
Men from the NSCDC apprehended Ipinnaiye for the attempted murder of his son, who was said to be fraternizing with some boys who were allegedly involved in social vices.
According to our reporter, the deceased attacked his son with a machete on their way to the farm, and the incident was reported to Civil Defence, which resulted in his arrest.
According to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the late APC chairman refused to answer questions and was left in one of the hotel rooms.
When the officers returned to resume interrogation, he was discovered dead after hanging himself with his belt.
Attempts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC’s Kogi State Command proved futile because his phone was turned off.
Also, the Kogi State Command’s police public relations officer, SP William Aya, promised to get back to our correspondent after speaking with the Divisional Police Officer in the area, but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
