STOPPING SCRAP METAL MERCHANTS WILL END VANDALISM OF PUBLIC FACILITIES IN CROSS RIVER – ENANG.
The stoppage of scrap metal activities by the directive of Governor Bassey Edet Otu has been described as a wise decision to rid the state of Vandals and other such criminal gangs.
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State,Hon. Emmanuel Enang said the directive will bring to an end the illegal and criminal activities of the hoodlums.
He emphasized that innocent, law abiding citizens of the state have suffered severe losses following the criminal carting away of their personal effects by persons suspected to be Scrap Metals Vandals.
“Unfortunately, the previous Government only realised lately, the negative implications of allowing these criminal elements to operate,when His Excellency, Sen Ben Ayade announced the scrapping of the Scrap Metal Agency at the twilight of the Administration.
“Before then, the damage to our economy and collective psyche had been done.”.
He however stated that the last administration only treated the matter with kid gloves and did not consider the terrible implications on the state.
Enang who was addressing Newsmen on the heels of the recent announcement by Sen. Prince Bassey Otu stopping the activities of Scrap Metals Merchants in the state said the new directive was an eloquent testimony to the fact of the People Conscious Mantra of the present administration.
“Backed by a conscious follow up approach,the recent directive by Sen. Otu will send the Vandals and Perpetrators of such acts of Vandalism out of business.”.
He applauded the Governor for his proactive approach to the security of the state adding that Cross Riverians must support with useful information that will keep Criminal elements consistently at bay.
