In an unexpected turn of event, a two-storey building, designed for a shopping complex, collapsed Friday evening, at Bode area of Ibadan, three days after a three-storey building collapsed at Ita-Faaji, Lagos Island.

The building, which was still under construction, had eight on site workers, who were all rescued, with the last two persons rescued about 2am on Saturday.

The major cause of the collapse could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, but insinuations from eye witnesses and residents alike suggested that the fast pace of construction could have led to the use of inferior building materials or lack of professionalism by the workers.
